Bleachers

Do I need an aisle with a handrail?
All current safety codes require an aisle and handrail for a bleacher unit with more than 5 rows. In addition, we have found that larger units of 8 rows and up, the upper rows will not be used efficientily if a handrail is not present. Patrons are not able to get to the top without climbing over rows and those already seated. ParknPool highly recommends an aisle with a handrail.
What guardrail is recommended for my existing bleacher unit?
A bleacher should have a guardrail along the back and the open ends where the drop is more than 30" to the ground below. The guardrail should be at least 42" high and, if using a vertical picket guardrail, all openings should be small enough that a 4" sphere cannot fit through. If chain link fencing is used, it is recommended using chain link that has a 1.25" (or less) mesh to discourage kids from climbing.
What is the difference between an elevated and non-elevated bleacher unit?
Elevated bleachers are those where your feet are sitting at the same height as the elevated walkway. Entry stairs are required for this type of bleacher system. Non-elevated bleachers are those where when seated on the first row, your feet rest on the ground.
